Gravel Pits and quarries, open-pit mines working for extracting of river deposited stone, rock and minerals can later be developed into amenity areas. Once abandoned, they are then typically used for nature reserves or parks for water sports, camping and walking. Properly stocked and managed however, these man-made holes in the earth can become viable fisheries as well.
